Due to the limitation of the space of column perhaps, our comment appeared on the paper was summarized in “Foreigners have strongly complained about both the income tax and the residency system”.

What I had actually told to the Nikkei’s reporter was that the lower corporate tax rate would not attract highly-skilled foreign professionals working for foreign financial institutes or investment funds when the income tax rate for them remained extremely high. Also I had told them that the immigration authority should allow highly-skilled foreign professional visa holders to sponsor a single or multiple foreign domestic helper visa(s) without conditions (like having a child under 13 years old) as long as they can afford to have the helper(s).
